Gribben, The | The Gribben is about a mile upstream on River Foyle from Dunnalong. This was one of the ferry crossings over the Foyle - it was known as the 'New Ferry' in the 1700s to distinguish it from the older ferry crossing at Dunnalong. A salmon fishery station was also established here which was in use until the latter part of the 20th century. The Loughs Agency is currently working[2015] to improve access to the site. You can see from the attached photograph that they're getting on quite well as the quay has now been rebuilt and a slipway added. | Dr. William J. Roulston |
