At Dumfries, on Monday week, Mr. John HERON, collector of the butter market dues, to Miss Henrietta DOBBIE. It is long since the bridegroom has been a great grandfather and altogether 81 winters have rolled over his head; however, he is a tough old fellow, yet, and at the ball, which concluded the ceremony, he did wonders in the dancing line and footed it with so much vigour and gracefulness, as to put many of those to the blush who were his juniors by half a century. The bride is aged 36.

Though she was his housekeeper and friend for seven years, he never intimated his intention of a connubial connexion, until she was proclaimed to his brother. At whose house she now was, he went there and his proposal was more eligible. They were married in open day before many witnesses, he, duly sober and the bride well pleased
with the change.

On the 20th inst., at the Parish Church of Aughaninchin, by the Rev. George Homan, Sir James STEWART Bart, of Fortstewart, to Jane, fourth daughter of the late Francis MANSFIELD of Castlewray, Esq. This event occasioned a great joy to the worthy Baronet’s numerous tennantry, to which they gave expression in bonfires and illuminations. The town of Ramelton, in particular, was splendidly illuminated, tar barrels were to be seen disturbing the reign of night in every quarter, and an amateur band perambulated the streets till a late hour, and played a variety of airs in excellent style.
