It must be remembered that at that time, Drumcree parish included the parish of Portadown. There were 353 protestant householders in Drumcree Parish. Allowing 5 for a family, that would give 1765 protestants in the parish.

Another view of The Church of the Ascension, Drumcree, Portadown by P. Flannagan, who says “It is known that there was a church in ruins in 1609 on this site. Shortly after, that a church was built which seated 500 people. A tower was added in 1812. The foundation stone of the present church was laid on Ascension Day 17th May 1855. This Church of Ireland church, which stands on the site of all previous churches, was consecrated on 28th Oct. 1856. The pipe organ was installed in 1907, the chancel floor was laid in 1955, and the church was re-slated, re-pointed and flood-lit in 1992.”
