There was a congregation known as Cappagh in the seventeenth century which covered the area now containing the congregations of Omagh, Drumquin and Badoney. The present congregation was erected c1790 and known as Crossroads; the first minister was Rev. James McClintock. The name of the congregation changed from Crossroads to Mountjoy in 1878
Surviving records of this congregation have been microfilmed by PRONI, Belfast, where they are available for consultation: Baptisms 1821-1979; marriages 1821-1924; list of seatholders 1832; pew rents 1829. PRONI Refs: MIC1P/242 & CR.3/29
The condition of the original records, a degree of difficulty in discerning the handwriting and at times, poor quality of filming make transcription challenging and wherever possible the Cappagh tithe applotment book (1827) and Griffiths Valuation (1858) have been consulted for confirmation of families and townland addresses.
