I, Joseph Arbuckle of Strabane, being of sound mind but of infirm health, do make this my last Will and testament. I commit my soul to God in humble hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. I bequeath to my niece REBECCA BUCHANAN, widow of the late JOSEPH BUCHANAN the sum of Thirty Pounds, to my nieces MARGARET POLLOCK & ANNE & SARAH CAMPBELL Thirty Pounds each, to GEORGE BUCHANAN my nephew Thirty Pounds, to my niece ISABELLA BUCHANAN now in America I bequeath Ten Pounds. I bequeath the three Houses in the Back Street of Strabane which I now hold under the heirs of Mrs Skipton to JAMES POLLOCK of Stanylane for the benefit of himself and the family of ROBERT CAMPBELL now residing with him: said houses at his death to become the property of my nephew ROBERT CAMPBELL. I direct that the sum of Thirty Pounds be handed to the Rev James Gibson, to be divided among the poor, the Missions of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and the Edinburgh Bible Society as he may consider best. I direct that a decent Tomb Stone be placed on my grave and should any surplus remain after funeral and law expenses, I direct that the same be equally divided among my four nieces, REBECCA BUCHANAN, MARGARET POLLOCK, and ANNE & SARAH BUCHANAN. There being five hundred and fifty pounds of my money in the hands of Mssrs. John and James Graham of Strabane and Derry, I direct that they not be called upon for the same by my Executor for 4 months after my decease if it be their desire to retain the money for such period. I appoint ANDREW JENKINS of Strabane my Executor to carry out the provisions of this will and I hereby cancel all or any former will made by me.

Joseph (1801-1863), printer, was the son of John Arbuckle, Strabane linen merchant and sometime schoolmaster at Lifford, Co Donegal (1749-1822) and Martha Green of Londonderry (1762 -1836).
He was the grandson of Joseph Arbuckle (1727-1781), merchant of Strabane and brother to Margaret who married (pre 1828) George Buchanan, bootmaker and leathercutter, and Matilda who married (pre 1828) Robert Campbell, tobacconist, both of Strabane. Robert Campbell and Matilda Arbuckle both died 1840. Known further siblings are John of Springhill, Strabane (m [1] unknown [2] 1836 Elizabeth Farquhar), William, publican of Barrack Street and Calhame, Strabane (m c1815 Sarah Stevenson (d 1833), Thomas, plumber and coppersmith in Londonderry (m 1828 Sarah Dunbar), Anne (d 1839) and another who married James Pollock of Stanylane, Killynaught.

11 March 1869 Anne Campbell married John McFarland, farmer of BallyskeaghStanylane is a stony lane and can be found in Killynaught townland, Leckpatrick parish, approx. 10 kms from Strabane. Arbuckle families are recorded in Griffiths Valuation (1858) and earlier Abercorn rentals at Killynaught, and in the adjacent townlands of Gortileck and Windy Hill (Donagheady parish), indicating the origins of the Strabane family.
The communion roll of 1st Strabane Presbyterian Church states that Joseph resided with nephew Joseph Buchanan and family in the town.
The grave (with headstone) is located in the old Camus parish graveyard, Patrick Street, Strabane with the inscription:
Sacred to the memory of MARTHA ARBUCKLE, relict of JOHN ARBUCKLE, Strabane who died August 1836 aged 72 years; ANNE ARBUCKLE their daughter died December 1839 aged 35 years; JOSEPH ARBUCKLE son and brother of the foregoing died July 2 1863 aged 63 yearsRev James Gibson was minister of 1st Strabane Presbyterian Church 1859-73
