AUGHNACLOY
A post, market, and fair town in the County of Tyrone consists of one street and is seventy miles north-north-west of Dublin, eight east of Clogher, nine south-west of Dungannon, thirteen north-west of Armagh and fifteen south-east of Omagh. In the middle of the town stands the parish church, a handsome edifice, with a spire and a good clock, and nearly opposite is the market house, which is going into decay.
Besides the Church, there is a Catholic Chapel, with a large Presbyterian meeting-house, two Methodist preaching houses, a corn mill and a flax mill. The market is held on Wednesday and there are fairs on the first Wednesday of every month. The population is about 1800.
