Hugh had a brother John Short (see marriage in 1847 below) who remained inTyrone and a sister Ann Short, b 1816, who went to Australia
Hugh Short left Ireland in 1839. He went to Australia with wife Hannah. Hannah died very soon after arrival. Hugh went on to marry Isabella Agnew. He became a rather wealthy owner of properties in the capital of Victoria State, Melbourne. He listed his occupation as publican and owned several hotels and a number of properties in central city district. His son, Thomas Short married Edith Sims from London. The Sims family were owners of barges and wharves in London and Middlesex areas, they too had a public house in Air Street Central London.

Hugh Short left Ireland in 1839. He went to Australia with wife Hannah. Hannah died very soon after arrival. Hugh went on to marry Isabella Agnew. He became a rather wealthy owner of properties in the capital of Victoria State, Melbourne. He listed his occupation as publican and owned several hotels and a number of properties in central city district. His son, Thomas Short married Edith Sims from London. The Sims family were owners of barges and wharves in London and Middlesex areas, they too had a public house in Air Street Central London.

Hugh Short left Ireland in 1839. He went to Australia with wife Hannah. Hannah died very soon after arrival. Hugh went on to marry Isabella Agnew. He became a rather wealthy owner of properties in the capital of Victoria State, Melbourne. He listed his occupation as publican and owned several hotels and a number of properties in central city district. His son, Thomas Short married Edith Sims from London. The Sims family were owners of barges and wharves in London and Middlesex areas, they too had a public house in Air Street Central London.
Hugh had a brother John and Hugh's parents were farming people.

Hugh Short left Ireland in 1839. He went to Australia with wife Hannah. Hannah died very soon after arrival. Hugh went on to marry Isabella Agnew. He became a rather wealthy owner of properties in the capital of Victoria State, Melbourne. He listed his occupation as publican and owned several hotels and a number of properties in central city district. His son, Thomas Short married Edith Sims from London. The Sims family were owners of barges and wharves in London and Middlesex areas, they too had a public house in Air Street Central London.
Hugh had a brother John and Hugh's parents were farming people.
