REWARD

WHEREAS on the Night of Tuesday the 27th day of December, the Corn, Flour, and Flax Mills of SION, the property of MR. JOHN PATTERSON, of Liggartown, were burned, and, it is supposed, with malicious intent: if so, we, whose names are hereunto subscribed, do offer a Reward (in proportion to the sums annexed to our names,) of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS, to any Person or Persons, who will, within six calendar months from the date hereof, give such information that the perpetrators may be punished, or TWENTY POUNDS to any person, who will give such private information as may lead to the discovery of any of them. The names of the person giving such information, to be kept secret. Dated this 1st day of January, 1826

And also will be sold, the Crop now on the premises, well saved, and containing a quantity of Wheat, Oats, Barley, Flax, Peas, and Potatoes. - This Farm lies within 2 miles of Strabane, is beautifully situated along the river Mourne. The land is of excellent quality, and the House and Offices in good repair.

[Died] At Letterbin, near Baronscourt, on Thursday last, MR. SAMUEL PATTERSON aged 75 years. He was an affectionate Husband and Parent, maintained a character of Probity, and was highly respected by a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances

[Died] In this town, on Tuesday last, at the house of her son-in-law, SURGEON PATTERSON, R.N., MRS. STARRETT, relict of THOMAS STARRETT of Letterkenny [Co. Donegal], Esq. and sister to the late JOSEPH ROULSTON, Esq. K.C.L.L.D., a lawyer whose eminence was long known throughout the North West circuit. On Thursday the remains of this estimable Lady (accompanied by a large assemblage of friends of all denominations, anxious to pay this melancholy tribute to departed worth), were interred in the churchyard of the latter town in the grave of her husband. It may be truly said, in her were united the genuine, but ostentatious, graces of Christianity -- she lived the life, as she died the death, of the righteous, relying on the alone atonement of her Redeemer. In the various relations of wife, mother, friend and acquaintance, few could excel her in goodness of heart or amiability of character

[Died] At his residence, on Sunday, the 3rd inst., after a protracted and painful illness which he bore with pious resignation to the Divine will, JOHN PATTERSON, ESQ., proprietor of the Ballymagorry Mills, aged 34 years. His premature demise is not only deplored by his bereaved family, but by all classes of the community in and around the neighbourhood of Strabane, his integrity and upright conduct, in his dealings with his fellow-men, having gained for him the respect and esteem of a very extensive circle of acquaintances

Following the finding of the mutilated body of a young man in a pipe at the end of the town of Benburb some weeks ago. It is now supposed that the body is that of JAMES PATTERSON, who lived with his step-mother and her family, who go by the name of Loy, at Kingarve near Dungannon. He was rather sickly, and suffered from sore eyes, but had managed to save £20.0s.0d. Having been missing for some weeks his step-mother and family, who were preparing to go to America, stated that he had gone to the Infirmary in Armagh for treatment, these statements have now proved untrue. Patterson's step-mother and her two daughters have subsequently been arrested in Glasgow, and lodged in Dungannon Gaol on Sunday evening past. Two of her sons have also been arrested one in Liverpool, and the other in the neighbourhood of Dungannon, all suspected of murder
