Died at Beragh, on the 5th ult. in the 78th year of his age, the REV. JAMES KERR, Presbyterian Minister of the congregation of Clogherny for 44 years. As a pastor he stood high in the estimation of his flock; as a man of benevolence, in the general circle of his acquaintance; and as a classical scholar and divine, in that of his clerical brethren. Nothwithstanding his advanced age, he always manifested in his public ministration, that correct taste and sound judgment, which an early and accurate acquaintance with literature naturally produces. The numerous concourse of respectable people of every denomination, that accompanied his remains to the silent habitation of the dead, fully demonstrated how sincerely his death was regretted

Died Thursday last, MRS. KERR, wife of MR. JOSIAS KERR, Merchant, of this town. - Posthumous eulogiums have been so often the vehicles of the personal partialities of the writer of them, that readers are sometimes disposed to pass them over, very cursorily, as the effusions of biased friendship, perhaps of purchased praise. But the meek and modest individual, whose death is above announced, stands in no need of laboured panegyric, to sound her merits; her life was blameless, as her habits were unassuming; and she carried with her to the grave the unfeigned regrets of all who had an opportunity of cultivating an intimacy with her. The private virtues as they endeared her to her friends, so (actuated by her lively faith) they could not fail to secure the approbation of her God, and this conviction must greatly avail to alleviate the heavy affliction of a fond and tender husband, and affectionate family, who now lament their loss in tears of bitterness and woe

FIRE -- About seven o’clock on the evening of Thursday last, a store, the property of MR. PATRICK KERR, situated at the Basin of the Canal, was discovered to be on fire. It is supposed to have originated in some seeds which were spread on one of the floors to dry, taking fire, which quickly spread through the wood work of the building; and notwithstanding the exertions of the inhabitants of the town, who used every means to arrest the progress of the flames, the roof, and that of the adjoining store, were entirely destroyed. Among those who were particularly active on the occasion, we noticed MR. SAMUEL MORTON, under whose directions the engine was managed. We have also to state, that CAPTAIN ANSELL, 74th regiment, stationed at Lifford, immediately on hearing of the fire, repaired to the spot, with, the detachment under his command, and rendered every assistance in their power to stop the progress of the fire. Such conduct needs no comment; but has made a very favourable impression on the people of Strabane. We also observed SIR J. J. BURGOYNE, J. P. and CAPT. FITZMAURICE, C. C. P. who remained on the spot until the fire was got completely under
