STRABANE MORNING POST:

December 13 1825

Died on the 3d instant, at Belfast, ARCHIBALD JOHNSTON ESQ. late of Castlefin [Co. Donegal], and formerly, for many years, resident in this town. He will long be remembered by those who knew him intimately, as a man who might (but for the accident of his childhood, which ever afterwards impaired his health) have attained eminence in any of the learned professions

January 15 1828

On Sunday last, an Inquest was held in the Church yard of Dunnemana, on the body of JAS. JOHNSTON, who had been buried six days, supposed to have been murdered by some person or persons unknown. Dr. A. LENEY, of this town, who was called on the Inquest, after having opened the head of the deceased, and examined the brain, declared that his death was not occasioned by any wound he had received. He had been for some time in a very delicate state of health, and subject to frequent fits of insanity. - The Jury returned a Verdict, “Died by the visitation of God”
