Leckpatrick Parish Rentals and Valuations 1777-1858
Gorticrum (a Sloping or Crooked Field) within Leckpatrick parish in north Co. Tyrone, was originally one townland, but was subsequently subdivided into Scotch (191 acres) and Irish (126 acres). Located southeast of Artigarvan, Gorticrum belonged to the Manor of Cloghogall within the extensive Abercorn Estate. The Abercorn papers form a very large collection in PRONI, Belfast, which includes title deeds, rentals, leases and correspondence relating to the Tyrone and Donegal estates, some commencing in the early seventeenth century. The following data has been extracted from LDS microfilms; researchers should consult the comprehensive Family History Library catalogue for a description of this microfilmed archive. Alternatively, the originals may be viewed at PRONI, 66 Balmoral Ave., Belfast.SURVEY AND VALUATION OF THE MANOR OF CLOGHOGALL (ABERCORN ESTATE) 1777 GORTICRUM: Henry Welch John McClane GORTICRUM SCOTCH: William McCormick John Loage Widow Wade RENTAL FOR THE MANOR OF CLOGHOGALL (ABERCORN ESTATE) 1787 GORTICRUM: LOWER IRISH: Sinclair Gibson (now Denis Walsh) Patrick McConaghy Henry Walsh (now Dennis) John McNamee MOUNTAIN IRISH: John Loag SCOTTISH WEST: John McCormick Bryan Donaghy SCOTTISH MIDDLE: James McCormick SCOTTISH EAST: James Gourley Robert Gibson TITHE APPLOTMENTS: LECKPATRICK PARISH 1827 GORTICRUM SCOTCH: Bryan Donaghey & Widow McCormick James McCormick William & James Gourley GORTICRUM IRISH: Widow Walsh John McManus & Widow McConaghy John Loague RENTAL FOR THE MANOR OF CLOGHOGALL (ABERCORN ESTATE) 1833 GORTICRUM: Tenants as per Former Leases and Occupying Tenants: Widow Welsh (Widow Welsh) John McNamee & partners ((John McNamee) John Loag Bryan & Widow McCormick (Bryan Donaghy & Widow McCormick) Daniel McCormick Widow & Robert Gourley RENTAL FOR THE MANOR OF CLOGHOGALL (ABERCORN ESTATE) 1848 GORTICRUM: Henry Welsh John McNamee (Daniel) Patrick McConaghty William Loague John Donaghy John Kelly James Divine GRIFFITHS VALUATION: LECKPATRICK PARISH 1858 GORTICRUM SCOTCH: A List of Occupiers and Immediate Lessors: Henry Walsh (Marquis of Abercorn) John Maguire (Henry Walsh) Daniel McNamee (Marquis of Abercorn) Patrick McConaghty (same) William Logue (same) James Logue (same) Marquis of Abercorn (In fee) GORTICRUM IRISH: A List of Occupiers and Immediate Lessors: Sarah Donaghy (Marquis of Abercorn) Hugh Devin (Sarah Donaghy) Denis Lynch (same) Thomas Kelly (Marquis of Abercorn) John McGonigle (Thomas Kelly) John Devin (Marquis of Abercorn) George Duggan (John Devin) |
