Identify This Lagan Ancestor?

This photograph was among those in a collection of family photos in possession of my 2X great-grandmother's brother's family - Patrick Lagen (sic) (1816-1913) of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. His elderly great-grandson shared the photos with me in 2010, and commented of this one, "They're Irish, that's all I know."
It appears to be a studio photo. Maybe someone who visits the page may have thoughts about it? When taken, etc. Judging from facial characteristics seen in others of the family, I would guess that the young man seated behind is a Lagan.
