5 Since Christian names persevered down the generations in many old families, one Wonders would this “ Tole Slevin” be a descendant of the “Tool o’Sclevin “, who paid the hearth-tax in Cavan townland in 1666, CR (1965), 386.

8 This inscription adds to our knowledge of Fr. Hugh Kelly, ordained in Maynooth, 1837, when he was appointed C.C. in Enniskillen, where he died in 1840
(McKenna, Parishes of Clogher, ii, 211). We now know that he was a native of Donaghcavey parish, son of Charles and Mary Kelly, that he died on 15 March, not on 24 February (ibid.), and that he was buried here with his family.

NOTES
17 An early Planter family came to Tyrone under Sir William Stewart of Mountstewart, who leased to one “Andrew McCrery” the townlands of Aghinlark and Screeby, Outside the present Fivemiletown, in 1622. (Inq Cancell Repert. Hib., ii – Tyrone :49 Car I ). One Andrew m ‘Crery” paid the hearth tax in neighbouring
Mullaghmore townland in 1666. CR (1965), 381. Others of the surname alsoPaid the hearth tax in Clogher barony.
18 The stonecutter obviously blundered here when he gave Pat Slavin’s date of death as 1701. Nor would 1791 suit. Perhaps the correct date was 1811?
22 This Martin family of Legamaghery was prominent in the parish up to a generation of two ago, when Fr. Rapmund, P.P. purchased for a parochial house the home of the last of them in Lisnacreeve. The surname, in the Irish form, Mae Giolla Mhartdin ( of Cenel Eohgain ) is found here from before the Plantation. On 20
August 1782 one Patrick Martin of Legamaghery registered at Omagh with two others of the name, and is listed in the Catholic Qualification Rolls ( NLI : MS
M2486). From the minutes of a parish vestry meeting of 21 April 1783 we read: “ that the sum of ten pounds be levied off the parish to be paid to Messrs.James McCann and Claude Martin to be disposed of in finishing the Romish Chapel of this parish”. (W. Guy MS). This Claude Martin may be the father of Our Claudius Martin (1794-1855) whose epitath is recorded here. Again our Claudius here was probably the father of the distinguished canonist and theologianFr. Michael Martin, S.J., o St Louis University, St Louis, U.S.A. who died in 1913, a native of Legamaghery too.
23 Erected /i.m.o./ James Hamilton / of Ecclesgreen / who died 7th January, 1873 /Aged 52 years./ And his wife Anne Jane Hamilton / who died 27th August, 1877, aged 56 years./ Francis R. Hamilton, son of the above /Died 27th November, 1873, aged 19 years.

NOTES
23 We find references to Hamiltons in this parish in 1666, when Archibald Hamilton paid the hearth tax in Racrane and John in Cranny, CR ( 1965 ), 382. The proved wills of the following are noted in the MS Index Clogher Wills: “ Hamilton, Audley, Ecclesgreen, Findonagh, 1803” (p. 69): “Hamilton, James, Fintona, 1844: (p. 72).
24 We find Crawfords here as hearth-taxpayers in 1666 : Andrew in Racrane, Robert In Ednasop, William in Donaghmoyne, beside Aughintain, but none then in
Baronagh: CR ( 1965), 381, 382, 386. The will of one John Crawford of Baronagh, was proved in 1788 ( MS Index Clogherr-Wills, 31). Buchanan Is a name long associated with Fintona, though the nearest to here of them among The taxpayers of 1666 was William, in Fivemileton: CR (1965), 380. One branch of these Tyrone colonists were the ancestors of President Buchanan of the U.S.A. The best known Buchanan from Fintona today is the present C. of I. Archbishop of Dublin.

NOTES
*34 This inscription adds something to what is already known of the Rev. Mervyn Wilson, the C. of I. clergyman buried here. Canon Leslie, in dealing with the
Clergy of the parish of Camus-on-the-Mourne, in Derry diocese, has the Following account of him:
1867 – Mervyn Wilson. Installed, Dec 20. A note in Preachers Book says He was installed, Jan 4, 1868, probably “inducted”. Son of Daniel W., lawyer
Born in Co. Tyrone, educated by Mr. Traynor, entered TCD, Nov 7, 1825 aged 18, B.A. 1830. Pensioner, 1832: Curate, Ardstraw, 1843. rector, Cumber Lr.,
1853-67: Rector Camus-j-Mourne, 1867-94; married June 19, 1855, Marie Margaret Jane, daughter of Richard Hunter of Straidarran, JP., D.L. and had issue including two sons: (1) Daniel James, born Jan 16, 1861, married Beatrice Moutray and had issue a daughter, Eileen Jane, married Rev. John M. Jennings, Rector of Charlestown, Co. Louth and had issue a daughter, Barbara Mary; (2) Richard Meryn, born Jan 11, 1864 married Nora Evans: and a daughter, Helena Claudine born Jan 1863, married Mervyn Stewart Thomas Moutray of Trewmount, Moy, and had issue, a daughter Barbara, married Dr Norman Patterson. He died in London, June 7, 1894, aged 85. ( Leslie, Derry Clergy and Parishes, 133-4?
This inscription corrects Leslie’s statement on Rev. Wilson’s age, which his family, who erected the tomb, give as eighty-seven. It is evident that this Wilson family
had their origins for a number of generations, in this parish.
*36 This Daniel Donnelly ( 1687-1792) is the oldest recorded of the Deceased in this graveyard. Note how the stonecutter wrote his age of 105 years.
