TYRONE GENERAL QUARTER SESSIONS OF THE PEACE

At these sessions, held at Omagh 31st December, 1840, before Assistant-Barrister RICHARD NUNN, ESQ., the following persons were tried and found guilty: -

ANN MARTIN

Found guilty of a larceny, to be imprisoned 4 calendar months and kept to hard labour; one week in each month to be in solitary confinement

HUGH McCAY

Found guilty of rescue; to pay a fine of £2.10s. for the use of the County Infirmary

Charles GARMLY

Charles PAUL

Owen McPAKE

Patt McPAKE

Charles McCAFFREY

Jane McALEER

Submitted to an indictment for a rescue from PATRICK McSOARLEY; to pay a fine of 10s. each, one half to the prosecutor, the other half to the use of the County Infirmary, and to find security of the peace, themselves in £20 each and two securities in £10 each

Sarah McCUSKER

Found guilty of a larceny on two indictments, to be imprisoned 2 calendar months, one week in each to be in solitary confinement

Thomas JOHNSTON

Ally JOHNSTON

Submitted to an indictment for a larceny; THOMAS JOHNSTON and ALLY JOHNSTON submitted to an indictment for a larceny; Thomas Johnston to be imprisoned 4 calendar months, one week of each to be in solitary confinement, and twice privately whipped; Ally Johnston to be imprisoned 2 calendar months and kept to hard labour

Daniel McCABE

Found guilty of larceny from the person of WM. JOHNSTON, to be transported for 7 years

Elizabeth CARMICHAEL

Found guilty for two indictments of larceny, to be transported for 7 years

Patrick GORMAN

Found giuilty of larceny, to be imprisoned 6 calendar months, kept one week in each to hard labour, and two months in solitary confinement

Susan MULLEN

Found guilty of larceny; to be imprisoned 6 calendar months, one week in eacch in solitary confinement

George PATTEN

James McGARLICK

Appeared in custody, and discharged of their bail, to answer an indictment for forcible possession and entry, were ordered to find bail to stand their trial at the ensuing assizes; the prosecutors, MARY GARMLEY and CATHERINE GARMLEY were rebound to prosecute.

John MULDOWN

Appeared in custody to answer an indictment for an assault upon JAMES PORTER, a process server, was ordered to find bail to stand his trial at the ensuing assizes, and James Porter rebound to prosecute

Patrick LENNARD

Charles REILY

Michael GALLAGHER

Were found guilty of a rescue; PATRICK LENNARD and MICHAEL GALLAGHER to be imprisoned for 3 calendar months each, and CHARLES REILLY to be imprisoned 6 calendar months, and all to find security of the peace, themselves in £20 each and two securities in £5 each
