TYRONE ASSIZES
TRACY & McBRIDE |
Edward
William |
were indicted for forcibly breaking the dwelling house of ADAM KEENAN, (Brackagh) on the night of the 4th of March and imprisoning Keenan for the space of two days. [Lengthy details of trial are printed in the newspaper, but are too lengthy to be transcribed here] The Judge sentenced them to imprisonment for eighteen calendar months. * An allusion of Keenan to something which happened on the 16th of February, referred to an attack made that night on his house, which was then broken into and his wife brutally ravished. She was removed to the town of Omagh, for safe custody; but on the night of the 5th of March, was carried off from thence by a party of ruffians, who stopped her mouth full with bread, to prevent her calls for help from being heard. She has been taken no one knows where, and it is doubtful whether she be now dead or alive.* [See below] |
