There were three lists for Anaghs in the Tithe Books. The first was signed by the Commissioners in August,1824, the second in December,1824 but not received by the Primate until February,1825 and the third was finally sworn in March,1827.
The Tithe Book in addition to Anaghs has Annaghavill and Anaghquin but does NOT have the townlands of Annaghmore,Annaghteige and Annaghananam. In one of the Books in which Anaghs is listed someone has written Annaghmore but this looks as though it was inserted at a later date as other townlands also have names and spelling mistakes corrected which have obviously been done at a later date. The problem is that the townlands in the Tithe and the Griffith's do not match so a comparison of the two cannot prove defenitely where this townland is. The Commissioners who did the Tithe applotments used local names for the townlands as they worked the areas in the Parishes. Legislation in the 1830's brought about the Ordnance Survey Maps which attempted to standardise the boundaries of townlands and parishes. It resulted in many townlands being divided, amalgamated, renamed and altered which is why the Tithe Books and the Griffith's Valuation differ. The first Ordnance Survey Maps were not completed until 1842 and I think Mr Griffith and his men did their lists from the townlands provided by the O/S Maps whereas the Tithe lists were done without any such delineation. The other problem with the Tithe Books,of course, is that it was an agricultural land tax and churchlands, glebes and urban areas were exempt from the Tithes.
My opinion is that Anaghs is probably a combination of Annaghmore and parts of Annaghteige & Annaghananam or a combination of parts of all three. [On looking at the townland map all of those 3 townlands are in one group - Note added by Linda Bailey]

On the second list Mr Crozier was increased to 21 - 1 - 18 acres ; Anne Warnock was added to Andrew Warnock ; John Moore was reduced to 20 acres ; William Johnston was increased to 42 acres and Thomas Johnston and James Johnston were not shown. The rest of the list did not alter
