The second show of this society took place in Dungannon, on Wednesday last, in the extensive market-place of that town.
THE DINNER.
The dinner was provided by Mr. Lilburn, at the Ranfurley Arms¹ hotel, and covers were laid in the ball-room for 150 persons. Owing to the dreadful severity of the day, however, only about 100 gentlemen were present. The ball-room was tastefully fitted up flowers ; an elegant chair was placed for the noble chairman. ever it was the name ³ Northland,² in gas jets left, the figure of a plough, was also displayed in gas.The dinner was an excellent one, reflecting the highest credit on Mrs. Lilburn, and the wines were of the highest order.
At six o¹clock, dinner was announced, and Lord Viscount Northland, M.P., took the chair. Around the chair, and in other parts of the room, were Walter Hoare, of Benburb, Esq., Thomas Eyre, of Benburb Castle, Esq., J. E. Jackson, Esq., John Kinley Tener, Esq., Henry King, of Castlecaulfield, Esq., Wm. Holmes, of Barnhill, Esq., Andrew Norton, Esq., J. B. Buchanan, of Omagh, Esq., Jas. Buchannan, Esq., Frederick J. Bowan, Esq., George Slevin, Esq., Valentine Goold, Esq., Robert Lyle, Esq., R. P. Morris, Esq., Jonathan Turner, Esq., Henry Brown, Esq., John Slevin, Belfast, Esq., William Dawson, Esq., M.D., Jonathan Peebles, Esq., David Craig, Derry, Esq., W. After the dinner was removed The noble Chairman in proposing the health of her Majesty the Queen, said that no comments were necessary from him. The Sovereign had lately returned from her visit to a foreign land, and that visit must render her the better able to appreciate the value of her own happy country. (Great applause.) He then gave ³ Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen.² (Drank with loud cheers.) ³ The Queen Dowager, Prince Albert, Albert Prince of Wales, and the rest of the Royal Family.² (Cheers.) His Lordship, in introducing the next toast, said about to propose the health of that nobleman who holds the most important situation in the country. Lord Heytesbury had always been ready to come forward to the assistance of societies like the present (cheers) his lordship was most anxious to forward every thing tending to the improvement of the country. (Koud [sic] cheering.) ³ The Lord Lieutenant, and Prosperity to Ireland.² (Great applause.) The noble Chairman next gave ³ The Army and Navy.² Dr. King returned thanks. ³ The Farming Society of Dungannon.² (Loud and long continued cheering.) Robert Wray, Esq., the Treasurer of the society, responded to the toast. He regretted the absence of the Secretary, who would have been much better able to return thanks than himself. He felt great interest in the society, and full concurred with the noble chairman in the remarks which he had made.
